Thanks for stopping by! My name is Mikelle, and I am a family, maternity and newborn photographer, and my studio is located in the beautiful village of Radium Hot Springs. Most of my newborn sessions, headshots, and other studio style sessions are done right at my studio, which offers a comfortable, inviting atmosphere that makes my clients feel welcome and at ease for their session. We’re not limited to the studio though! Many of my sessions are done outdoors at beautiful locations in the area. From Edgewater to Radium to Fairmont to Canal Flats and more, there are so many beautiful, scenic spots to plan your session! I also love to travel, so if you are interested in booking something beyond these areas please let me know!
What's it like to come in for a newborn session at my studio? I've worked to make my studio a warm and inviting place where parents can relax while I pose and take pictures of their baby. Most of the time, we will start with the family poses, if that’s the session type you have chosen. Once we move on to the baby only portion, you are welcome to grab a cup of coffee or tea, sit down and relax and watch while I pose and photograph your newborn in a variety of poses. The colours, poses, and props that I use are based on your preferences that you will indicate in a session prep guide that I send to you in advance. While some parents are very involved and want to watch every minute, I’ve had other parents that just enjoy the chance to have a break. Either way, it’s my goal to make it an stress-free, enjoyable experience. And the best part is the beautiful images you will have to keep forever so that you’ll never forget the precious details of your little one.
The first few weeks with a new baby are such an exciting time. I try to make sure that the process of coming to my studio for these pictures is just another amazing experience during this special time for parents and families. Since moving to the area in 2019, it's been such a privilege to meet and photograph so many local families , along with many other families who have come to visit from Calgary, Vancouver and many other areas across Canada. With the Rocky Mountains to the east, the Purcells to the West, and the wetlands right down the middle, the Columbia Valley has a beauty that is unique to the area. Lake Windermere also provides beautiful beach and lake views, with mountains in the background. There is no shortage of absolutely stunning locations for family photo sessions! Whether you live here or are just visiting the area, getting family photos done is definitely something you may want to consider. And yes, extended families are always welcome. Actually, extended family sessions have become some of my favourites!
