When should you book your newborn session?

It's been a while since I've blogged but here we go! This handsome little man came to my studio a few weeks ago and he was just a tiny bundle of perfection! I really do love my job as a newborn photographer. I am so grateful to have the privilege of capturing these tiny humans at this most precious stage. It's my goal to give parents beautiful images that they will cherish long after their little ones have grown so that they can remember even the tiniest details. Because they change . . . so much and so quickly! But to get back to the question . . . When should you book your newborn session?

It is a good idea to book sometime during your second trimester. As a newborn photographer, I only accept a limited number of sessions during a month so that I can give myself enough flexibility to book each session within 2 weeks of baby being born. So when you book it is not for a specific date - that way we can be flexible and we will be able to do your session in the right time frame. If you find yourself getting close to your due date and you haven't booked yet, or even if you have already had your baby please don't hesitate to contact me! I will do my very best to fit you in - newborn photo sessions really are my favourite, and I'll do just about anything to make it happen! Many newborn photographers will decline babies over 2 weeks. The reason is that many of the poses you see are easiest when babies are still in that very sleepy, flexible stage. Past 2 weeks certain poses are just more difficult, and sometimes not possible. However, there are still many adorable poses that can be done with an older baby. And once in a while an older baby will do just fine in just about all of the poses. Having said all of that, if you have the choice - please book your newborn session in advance - it really is best if we can do the session within those first 2 weeks.

Some of my favourite images are the no props, bare skin, whether it's baby on their own or in mama's arms. If you are just starting your journey into motherhood, or if this is your second time around or more, I would love to hear from you and meet you and your precious little one. They will be precious forever, but only this little once!
